Who is the Modern Ranch Wife?

Welcome to my wild, wonderful, Wyoming life. I am a southern farm girl who grew up raising tobacco and showing horses. Then  I found myself marrying a rancher.  I walked into a world that is known by many, but truly lived by few. I taught school sixty miles away for eleven years.  Then I decided to stay home with the kids and help on the ranch.

We raise Red Angus cattle, four very busy border collies (make that 5 now) and two adorable but unfortunately growing children ( Can I count my husband as a 3rd child). Just asking…

I love to cook, but hate to do dishes! I love a clean house, but hate to clean it. I love to ride horses, but enjoy it better in nice 70 degree weather with a slight breeze. I love to read, but my favorite genre is romance novels! (I know scandalous!)

Since retiring from teaching in May of 2012,I have taken up several hobbies. Quilting was fun and time-consuming. I made one very lovely quilt for my mother’s birthday and christmas gift.

Then my neighbor introduced me to crochet in the fall of 2012. Then in 2014 my mom pleaded with me to take up knitting as she had started it again and to say I am hooked is a mild understatement. I knit, but mostly I buy yarn! I love it. I could open a store! It is so addicting to try new patterns.  Since I am not teaching my mind yearns for learning and this has taken its place.

My kids are growing fast and I am learning to enjoy my slow-paced lifestyle that only a few get to know and for that I thank God daily.

I hope to reach other modern ranch wives that are out there, living life in the middle of nowhere and enjoying it everyday!

Look at my babies! Where did they go? I just want to cry every time I see this picture.

Growing too fast! I blinked too many times.

I have been looking for a female puppy and am interested in hearing about your new ones. Will you sell them. If so, what is the price. I have filled out adoption applications and been approved but so far no puppy. Would love to hear from you.

Where are you located? Are you on a farm or ranch? These dogs are bred to work and would not be good with out work and room to run.

I am also a knitting-crazed rancher and saw your UW Bucking horse hat and wondered where you got the pattern? My niece will be a Junior at UW and I wanted to make it for her.

I actually found it online and then I made a basic beanie hat. I have the app knit sketch on my phone and it allows you to put it any picture and it will turn it into a pattern. I can send you the bucking horse if you have an email. My daughter is a sophomore in douglas and has plans to attend UW as well

Give me your Thoughts! I would love to hear from you!
